December 2009
Windy and cold with some rain or snow showers. A storm could bring a wintry mix before mid month. Mid month, fair and dry and cold, then turning milder. Some showers or flurries prior to Christmas, then windy and colder with flurries from Christmas time to end of the year.
Christmas Time 2009
While some places may have snow on the ground already, as far as new snow falling, nothing but flurries or snow showers…and seasonably cold.
January 2010
First week has snow … mostly light … from time to time. Second week will see windy and colder weather with snow showers and snow squalls. Things will get milder the third week when snow goes to a wintry mix then rain … before turning colder once again. Last week sees wintry weather with cold ... windy ... snowshowers and squalls slowly retreating and calm weather returns.
February 2010
First week begins with light snow then a break with another bout of snow or wintry mix. Second week turns colder with some light snow and flurries but threatening weather is possible and heavy snow or a blizzard is not out of the question by or around President’s Day holiday weekend. Third week will see the wind and flurries move out and things calm down. Last weekend sees another round of snow or wintry mix ending as flurries.
March 2010
Turning milder with some rain…back to colder with snow or a wintry mix by first weekend. Light wintry mix ends…then a lull…snow possible again by the weekend. Windy and cold….then calming down and yes….another bout of wintry weather for the weekend. Last week and a half..not as chilly..but unsettled with some rain or wet showers.
NOTE: El Nino is evident now..but should weaken during the winter but we cannot be sure. In any event, we expect this winter to be similar, not exactly, like that of 1992. The most notable event should come in around President’s Day weekend when a blizzard will roar out of the Rockies and head for the Atlantic Coast.
